My website with blog

I switched to a new website provider and created a brand new site.
I really like the look of it and I was also able to import my blog from here.
That was very important to me.

I hope you go and have a look and follow me on my new blog with bloglovin.
I have a button on the site.
For now I will keep this blog open and let you know about new posts .
Hope to see you over at my new site!
I have more pictures of my new felted polar bear as well......   :)

Felting

( This is my first wet felted piece and ball)
A few weeks ago I was able to go to the big city and meet a fellow doll maker
Monika from The Olive Sparrow
who taught me how to wet- and needle felt.
I had so much fun talking with her and learning from her.
She is truly a kindred spirit!

And here we are ! Monika and me!

Since then I have started to needle felt some critters, like this Mr. Fox

 A badger for my husband.

And also a little sheep, that just got ready in time for Easter.

I really enjoy the process of needle felting and the artistic freedom I have.
There will be a lot more felting in my future for sure!!

It's bunny time....

This weekend I worked on this bunny girl.
She turned out soooo cute that I couldn't wait until she has all her clothes
to show some pictures of her.

She is sooo soft and cuddly and full of soft wool.

Look at that face!!!!!
Can you tell I'm in love?
Right now she is spending a lot of time with me and I will have to put some thought into if I want to keep her or let her go to a new home...
hmmm...
We'll see.

Bunny and owl

This custom pair is going on a big trip to the other side of the world.
They are going all the way to Australia.

I love the color combination the customer choose for the bunny.
Since the eyes would be very dark and kind of hard to see on the dark brown
I thought it would be nice to have a lighter brown around them as a contrast.

I like it a lot. What do you think?

The owl turned out very sweet as well.
I like using some darker fabrics . They make the colors stand out more.

My latest creations

Just finished this puppy blanky.
With all the bunnies lately it was time for a puppy again.  :)
You can find this one in my Etsy shop

This lamb was a custom order I also just finished.
With Easter around the corner I think some more lambs are coming my way.

These logs, tree stump and leaves are also a custom order for the family that got the group of mushrooms lately.
Can you imagine how much fun it would be to get your imagination going when you play with these forest toys?

Custom Pirates and Ninja's

My latest custom order has been for little pirate sister and brothers and little ninja's. For this order the customer wanted bags with drawstrings so I came up with bags with the same pirate fabric, but different top edges so that the boys know which one belongs to them.

Little pocket pirates are just so much fun to make.

I can just imagine the adventures they will have together.

With the pirates I also made them these two ninja's

Gosh it has been a long time since I made ninja's.
Maybe I should make some more.......

Little custom grandma pocket doll

This little pocket doll was a very special custom order. She is a grandma and hopefully she can help a little girl get over her big loss.
Dolls like that can be tricky.
You want to get it right and so you put a lot of thought into it. I'm so honoured that I was able to create what the customer had in mind even without a visual.

None of the hair types I used on pocket dolls before made sense for this oneuntil I thought of this curly mohair. It turned out just perfect.

The little jacket is made from a recycled wool sweater and has embroidered edges and a few French knots .

I have to say I'm just in love with this little doll !

Happy Valentines Day

Happy Valentines Day to all of you all over the world!
I hope you get to spend time with the ones you love.
Your partner ,family, friends, kids or pets!

Custom Mushrooms

I don't think I have shown you this bunch of mushrooms I made for a customer. They range in size from about 5 to 10 inches (about 13-26 cm)
all have heavy bottoms and can stand alone. I make them with and without the heavy bottom. It's not fall anymore I know, but to me there's no season for mushrooms. I just love these mushrooms all year round.Especially dotted mushrooms!Have you seen the other kind I make?Different colors and shapes and sizes

I also make other nature items like these...

A custom pocket doll set....

Look at these 2 cuties!
They were a custom order for a very patient lady.

Oh those sweet little faces.

I have not done this kind of hair due in a long time and still like it .

He's so cute! I want to make a big version of him.

The open hair is very cute, but it's very time consuming because it's such a small wig.
Oh, but I love that little bed head!

Well this was a fun set to make and I hope the little ones that will play with them have a ton of
fun with them too.

First creation....

How excited are you about a new year?
I'm very excited I have to say.
You get a fresh start and a whole lot of "first's, right?
I don't make New Year resolutions, but rethink what worked for me last year and what could use some change and I go from there.
So this year I want to get better organized with my time as I have a lot more on my plate
and it felt like I was chasing my own tail for most of the time .
Keeping track of everything was a problem too.
I believe I have a bit of ADD as well and get overwhelmed when I have too much in my head and then
everything comes to a halt because I don't know what to do first.
More about that in a later post, when my new customized planner arrives.  :)
For now it's easy to keep track and here you see one of my first customs of 2014.

The good thing about the start of the year for me is that the busy time at my day job is over and things calm down and I have any or just a few custom orders lined up.
This here is one of them.
An owl for a soon to be born grandchild.
Yesterday was spend with cutting out fabrics, sewing the parts together...

...stuffing them with soft, fluffy wool.....

....and hand stitching the parts in place and embroidering the face.

This is the finished owl.
I love the leaf fabric. It's so versatile !
There will be a change in the owls this year. I feel they need to be a bit different and
I have already some good ideas.
More about this at a later point as well, so come back and see what 2014 will bring
for PolarBearCreations.
I'm excited !

2013 Review

I can't believe 2013 is over and done with!
It has been an exciting and busy year for my little creative business.
Selling my creations on the local market on Saturdays has been a wonderful endeavour for me and I loved meeting customers and making new friends.
I didn't sell on any type of market for at least 10 years so it was a bit scary, but now I feel I got the routine down. At first I was scared that I would not be able to make enough during the week since I was also still working my day job, but it all worked out.
My Etsy shop has of course also been a big part of my business.
So this year I wanted to see what I actually made , and here are some mosaics with my creations from 2013.
Sadly I missed taking a bunch of pictures of items I sold on the market
because I would finish them the night before and never got a chance .
Regardless I'm quiet impressed of what I've accomplished !
Thank you to everyone who has been a part of this wonderful journey.
Oh, I also reached 1000 likes( now 1080) on my facebook page!
That's HUGE for me ! Honest!!!!
Love you all!!
:)
So here as promised the collections:

and my one and only full size doll.....
Celeste!

Thank you again for your support and stay tuned .
I plan to have a busy year 2014 as well and hope to realize a whole bunch of new ideas.

Happy New Year and all my best wishes to you!
May all your dreams come true!
