First creation....

How excited are you about a new year?
I'm very excited I have to say.
You get a fresh start and a whole lot of "first's, right?
I don't make New Year resolutions, but rethink what worked for me last year and what could use some change and I go from there.
So this year I want to get better organized with my time as I have a lot more on my plate
and it felt like I was chasing my own tail for most of the time .
Keeping track of everything was a problem too.
I believe I have a bit of ADD as well and get overwhelmed when I have too much in my head and then
everything comes to a halt because I don't know what to do first.
More about that in a later post, when my new customized planner arrives.  :)
For now it's easy to keep track and here you see one of my first customs of 2014.

The good thing about the start of the year for me is that the busy time at my day job is over and things calm down and I have any or just a few custom orders lined up.
This here is one of them.
An owl for a soon to be born grandchild.
Yesterday was spend with cutting out fabrics, sewing the parts together...

...stuffing them with soft, fluffy wool.....

....and hand stitching the parts in place and embroidering the face.

This is the finished owl.
I love the leaf fabric. It's so versatile !
There will be a change in the owls this year. I feel they need to be a bit different and
I have already some good ideas.
More about this at a later point as well, so come back and see what 2014 will bring
for PolarBearCreations.
I'm excited !

An upgrade !!

I'm so excited !
Last week I got my new (to me) Bernina930 .
Many of you will not get my excitement, but that's okay.  :)
This is her!!!!

I started out on a cheap Singer sewing machine
Sewing mostly baby slings at that time.
Then I got my husband's grandma's Kenmore 10 that she had used for many years .
I liked that old machine and still do.
It's a solid no nonsense machine and was able to sew through 3 layers of terrycloth!!
Lately I felt like she is getting a bit tired of this type of sewing and I'm sure she was not made to sew
pretty much every day for the last 10 years. The tension was acting up too and that makes things
very frustrating for me.

So I put the word out for some ideas on what to get for a new machine and my friend
Barrie highly recommended the Bernina 930.
Guess what? I bought it off Ebay!
That was somewhat scary. n
No it WAS scary!!!!!!
I sold and bought for years on Ebay, but NEVER spend that kind of money ever!!!
Well I won the auction and the machine arrived extremely well packaged and in great working order!
I'm so happy !
Funny , just now do I feel worthy to get a really good sewing machine.....
tztztztz...*shakes head*
Silly me!
Now let's see what this baby can do.....
Have a wonderful day!

New Bunny Style

I spend some time coming up with a new style for bunnies .
This is the first new one.
She is about 13 inches (33 cm) tall, made with cotton velour and soft, floppy and squishy.

All in all I like how she turned out.
I might still tweak a few things but there will be more to come I'm sure.
❤❤❤

Pictures...

I can't believe how long it has been since I posted something here.....
My few hours part time job turned into a full time job over Christmas, what left me with no time for anything else.
I was able to finish all my last custom orders in time and here are some pictures ....

Things will get much quieter at my job now and I can get back to my sewing machine.
I really look forward to creating again.
Thank you to all of you who showed interest in my creations in the last year and I wish you a
Happy New Year!

❤ My new space!! ❤

 And here it is now.....
my brand new work space! My sewing corner in the basement.
It took a while to get everything unpacked and 99% of my things have found a new home here,
but I'm sure I will still move stuff around until I'm really contend with it.

 My cutting/packing table...

most of my fabrics are now on cardboard backs, but I can't do it with all of them or
I have to get another bookshelf. So the rest will stay stacked .
That works too.  :0)
I LOVE the tidy look and that I can access everything fast.

These are my terry's and books

And here we have velours and wool (in the drawers) and some of the other things.
Now I can start creating again.
I really missed it a lot and look forward to get some of my ideas out of my head.
It's so hard to just sit around and not do something creative .
